I can think of few lovelier ways to spend a moody Saturday in October than at home with my favourite person, soothing tipple in hand and a gentle warmth radiating from the log burner. It was perfect in every way, like our weekends together always are.
Following a lie in and a homemade breakfast, I decided to pick up my camera and venture out to the forest, fresh air and new blog content awaiting.
Acorns falling gently from tree canopies above, leaves crunching beneath my feet, it was beautifully seasonal. I stopped every now and then to snap photos, take in the changing colours of autumn, and breathe in the scent of nature around me. I met fellow walkers and four-legged friends, both the barking and neighing kind, enjoying this glorious Saturday morning. A breeze trickled through the copper foliage across the forest, whispering gently in nature’s soothing language.
I felt calm and at peace, rooted in the moment. All thoughts of anything other than my surroundings were far in the distance, like the soft landscapes concealed behind copses of trees in every corner. Thoroughly satisfied with this short but sweet escape, I said my goodbyes to the gathering of horses at the bottom of the hill and made my way home with the promise of warmth awaiting.
A recipe for an autumnal weekend at home should always involve some time outdoors to truly appreciate the cosiness between our four walls. Sipping hot apple Pimm’s was a lovely way to warm up and all the more satisfying after a chilly walk. I read on the sofa and listened to the crackling sound of logs gently burning in the stove.
These slow, relaxing weekends have become our favourite way to spend time. As difficult as this year has been for us all, it’s also been a comforting reminder of what we have within reach. We finished the evening rewatching Knives Out, complete with Petit Chablis and a roaring fire.

Reading through this and looking at your photos took me with you in that walk somehow. And you’re right, every moment seems to be better with your favorite person in tow! We don’t have autumn here in Manila, but it’s definitely the start of the colder season and we’re enjoying it as well. Happy to have read this post, it truly made my day.
Stay safe always!
Cheers,
