The everyday is not always as enchanting or picturesque as we’d like it to be. Unless we reside in a charming Cotswold village, surrounded by quaint cottages and flowing streams, it probably seems like there is not much worth photographing in our day-to-day life. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t take captivating photos in our usual surroundings. Slowly making my way through Sara’s book, Hashtag Authentic, and devouring every beautifully written page has been a reassuring reminder of this. I’ve become hyperaware of all the little moments in my 16 hours or so of daily consciousness that deserve to be framed. The flicker of a candle flame on weekend mornings as I make a slow start to the day; the wildflowers sprouting on the side of the pavement on my way to work; our kitchen windowsill in the late afternoon and the fading light surrounding the flowers lining it – all are beautiful moments that translate with meaning and depth through the lens of a camera.

Noticing beauty in the ordinary takes a seemingly mundane aspect of our day and turns it into something special worth remembering. No matter what it is in our lives, it leaves the door wide open for creativity – something that is warmly welcomed in the monotony of routine.
What are the little moments in your everyday that make you smile?

the smell of bread in the morning and all these beautiful spring sunsets now.
