With the new season in sight, March has been a month of hope and creativity. After a heartbreaking, emotional February, it was very much welcomed and embraced with full arms. Having set myself the goal of pushing creative boundaries in my online space, I focused on taking photos with a little more thought – ones that could tell a story. I began with what I knew: dried up flowers lying around at home, some pretty stationary and our trusty dining room table. The results were okay but not exactly anything with meaning behind it; it was simply an improvement on what I had been doing already. It wasn’t until the middle of March that I actually found myself experimenting a little more.
Remembering a post by Simple & Season on using visual tropes to build a likeminded audience on Instagram, I decided to try one of these images from the slow living community: a chair piled with jumpers and styled with a simple flower. I even edited it in a slightly different way to how I usually would, toning down the shadows and warmth for a soft, delicate finish. It felt refreshing to try something new and it reminded me to not only work with exposure but with shadows and dark levels too. The positive response to this photo encouraged me to continue expanding my creativity and experimenting with different editing styles. I used to think that in order to have a beautiful, consistent feed, we need to have one editing style but in reality, that doesn’t work as easily and could get a little tiresome after a while! This focus on creativity led to hope: the feeling that it is all going to be okay in the present and a refreshing sense of ease for the future. With that, my goal for April will concentrate on the present to make way for what’s to come later.
get things done
I have a tendency to put tasks off for later until they build up into an unmanageable pile, resulting in an anxious cloud hanging over me throughout the working week. Answering simple emails has become a challenge, university assignments have mounted up and once again, there’s a backlog of blog post ideas in my head. Avoiding responsibilities will only propel my anxiety further. It’s time to take control and stop procrastinating. Managing my time is something that I have needed to work on for a while and with the new season here, it feels like the right time to finally attempt this change.
What goal have you set yourself for April?
I’ve been absolutely loving your photos, they’re so beautiful and calming, I can’t wait to see what new images and styles you come up with. My main goal for April is to continue trying to improve my photography and blogging, I’m trying to write more often and continue to read daily.

I just love the creativity in your photos and your feed always looks beautiful. I’m also guilty of procrastinating so I feel your pain there. Hopefully with spring finally here things will get easier for inspiration! xx
