With autumn approaching, it seems like the perfect time to start a new slow morning ritual. Mornings are getting darker each week and the weather is turning cooler, making mornings at home cosier and more inviting. One of the slow living philosophies that I wanted to embrace last year was to set aside an hour of the morning to myself before starting the day. Having some time to ourselves first thing allows us to not only set a relaxed tone for the rest of the day but to also embrace the change in seasons. Below is the slow morning ritual that I have started for autumn.
Light a candle
Scented candles are an ideal way to create a calm atmosphere in the home. I find the flicker of candlelight against a daylight backdrop so beautiful, even more so than when it’s dark.
Sip on hot water with lemon
Starting the day with a soothing cup of hot water is hydrating yet warming in the colder months. I add half a slice of lemon to kickstart my metabolism and feel more refreshed.
Read favourite blogs
Sitting down to catch up on my favourite blogs often fills me with lots of inspiration and a sense of calm. Lime after Lime, An Enthusiasm For, Poshyarns and The ILDN Journal are just a few of the usuals on my reading list.
Do you have a slow morning ritual?
I love a slow morning on the weekends 🙂 I try to have time for myself on weekdays before work but I certainly make it a priority on a weekend. Long breakfast, hot coffee and a bit of reading. Should try a candle too I think 🙂 Great post! I love your slow living philosophy 🙂
It’s the perfect way to start a weekend, isn’t it! It’s really difficult on weekdays as there’s always such a rush to get out of the house on time etc. And thank you so much, Sammy!
