It’s been an odd summer to say the least, but one filled with tiny moments of joy. Being limited to what we could do means that we were able to embrace the season in its full glory, with weekends spent outdoors in the fresh air, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Some of my favourite memories are simply sitting in the garden and soaking up the beautiful weather, unwinding and slowing down.
Reading under the shade
A stack of books and a subscription to House Beautiful kept me company on slow Sundays at home, usually a sparkling water on the side and a dose of dappled sunlight poking its way through the fruit trees in our garden.
Drinks in the garden surrounded by roses
Is there anything lovelier than an icy cold glass of rosé in a beautiful setting? Dave’s mumma’s garden became our watering hole over summer, a table and chairs set up in the corner and the sound of bees busy at work.
Walks in the New Forest
Working from home requires very little physical movement so being able to stretch my legs on long walks in the forest was idyllic in every way. We even spotted a shy deer in broad daylight on one of our outings.
Finding inspiration for photography
All our wonderful summer adventures sparked more creativity than even before: scattered petals on the ground, flowers in the evening light, early morning beach escapes. My camera’s shutter button has been in continuous mode this summer.
What are some of your lovely memories from this season?
